London, Former World no.1 Andy Murray on Thursday received a wild card entry to main draw of the Australian Open. The British tennis player will compete at the tournament for the 14th time.
The 2022 Australian Open will be held at Melbourne Park from January 17 to 30.
"I’m really excited to be back playing at the Australian Open and grateful to Craig and the team for the opportunity," said Murray as quoted by ATP Tour.
"I’ve had some great times in Australia playing in front of the amazing crowds and I can’t wait to step back out on court at Melbourne Park."
Murray has been a finalist at the Australian Open on five occasions, with the latest in 2016 when he lost to Novak Djokovic.
"Andy is renowned for his fighting spirit, passion and love of the game," Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley said. "I’m delighted to welcome him back to Melbourne in January."
