Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that all of should make efforts for restraining themselves from drug misuse. The State Government is continuously running an anti-drug campaign, he added.
The Chief Minister said this while administering an anti-drug oath to the students during a Sankalp Samaroh organized under the drug de-addiction campaign in Karnal on Thursday. Union Minister of State, Sh. Kaushal Kishore also remained present on this occasion.
On his arrival in the programme, Sh. Manohar Lal signed a campaign for drug de-addiction.
Later while addressing the students, he said that drug addiction is a menace and anyone who starts taking drugs fails to understand the difference between good and bad. He said that misuse of various types of drugs cause a lot of harm to the abuser.
Along with deterioration of physical strength anyone who takes drugs becomes prone to several other ailments like cancer etc. Not only this, instead of taking care of their family, they start spending their hard-earned money on drugs and start distancing themselves from their families and society, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
Making the youngsters aware of the drug menace is need of the hour and for this, a drug de-addiction campaign should be launched by every section of the society in which maximum awareness about drug misuse should be spread among the youth, said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the efforts of the Union Minister of State, Sh. Kaushal Kishore who is touring across the country and is running an awareness campaign against drug addiction. He said that along with making people aware of this menace, the Union Minister of State is also calling upon the youth to take a pledge against drug abuse.
The Chief Minister said that the present State Government is running a huge anti-drug campaign. We should try our best to completely eradicate the drug addiction menace, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
He also administered a pledge to the students that they would neither indulge in drug misuse nor encourage it and would also motivate those taking drugs to leave this bad habit.
Adequate health arrangements made to tackle Omicron variant
The Chief Minister said that all the adequate arrangements have been made for tackling the spread of Omicron variant. The government is constantly monitoring the situation. Directions regarding the wearing of masks have been issued. The spread of this new variant is high, hence, the vaccination programme is being run continuously, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
'My family is drug-free', Youth should write this slogan outside their houses, Union Minister
Union Minister of State, Sh. Kaushal Kishore appealed to the youth to write a slogan, 'My family is drug-free' outside their houses. Children should actively campaign for this.
He said that on the 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a target has been set to make 75 lakh people take anti-drug pledges. So far 10 lakh people have been given a pledge to de-addiction.
During this, Sirsa MP, Smt. Sunita Duggal, Gharaunda MLA, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, Indri MLA, Sh. Ram Kumar Kashyap and other senior officers were present.
