Omicron tally in Sindh nears 50pc

Islamabad, Pakistan's Sindh province has reported nearly 50 per cent Omicron cases.

According to health authorities, 175 of 351 samples of Covid-19 positive cases were infected with the new variant.

Out of 175 people, few had a history of traveling abroad from the UK, Dubai, USA, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Nairobi and Angola, Geo News reported.

The Sindh Health department has informed Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah about the worsening situation in the province.

The official said coronavirus cases in the province started rising for past 30 days.

The Chief Minister urged the health officials to start extensive vaccination drive and testing people across the province.
