Washington, Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes was on Monday convicted of defrauding investors after a months-long landmark trial in California, the BBC reported on Tuesday.

Prosecutors accused Holmes of knowingly lying about a technology she said could detect various diseases with only a few drops of blood.

Holmes was found guilty on four charges, including conspiracy to commit fraud against investors and three counts of wire fraud.

The 37-year-old now faces up to 20 years in prison.

Holmes faced 11 charges in total and was found not guilty of four charges relating to defrauding the public.
