Sensex up 160 points

Mumbai, Extending its gains for the third straight session on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex rose 160 points to open at 59,343.79 as renewed buying was seen in Materials, Energy, Telecom and Utilities stocks.

The Nifty too moved up by 47.25 points to 17,672.95.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 59, 496.70 and 59,084.40 points respectively.

The Nifty registered the days high and low at 17,715.45 and 17,593.55 points respectively.

 

The Mid Cap fell by 0.01 per cent while Small Cap rose by 0.26 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 21 advanced while 9 declined.

The gainers were Powergrid by 2.88 per cent to Rs 210.80, NTPC by 2.82 per cent to Rs 129.55, Axis Bank by 1.74 per cent to Rs 708.45, SBI by 1.01 per cent to Rs 475.60 and Reliance Industries by 0.90 per cent to Rs 2425.95.

The losers were HCL Technology by 0.89 per cent to Rs 1314.40, Wipro by 0.79 per cent to Rs 712.95, Tech Mahindra by 0.74 per cent to Rs 1771.90 and Infosys by 0.70 per cent to Rs 1883.90.
