Kurukshetra:An international conference on “India 2.0-Vision for India @2047: Challenges and Prospects’ commenced at Kurukshetra University senate Hall on Monday. keynote speaker Kumiko Haba, President of International Studies Association (ISA), Asia Pacific, and Director, Global International Relations (GIR) said in her address: “Regional associations like QUAD, AUKUS ruled the strategic and international relations in the world. Now, the associations like SAARC, BIMSTEC have more dynamic role to play in the present time. Role of India and Japan is very crucial in the new strategic alliance in the present times.”

KU VC Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said that PM Modi’s vision of Azadi's Amrit Kaal projects India as a 40 trillion dollar economy by 2047. The main indicators of underdevelopment in wake of India's 5th status in size of GDP rank are low per capita income, high rate of unemployment, dependence on primary sector and lack of infrastructure. 5 years of sustained growth rate of 9% will take India to 5 trillion-dollar economy. But we need to focus on Atmanirbhar bharat (Self Reliant India) concept and should root out corruption and include women in achieving the goal of making India a world leading economy by 2047.

Prof Ashawni Kumar Nanda from CRRID, Chandigarh observed “India will reach the peak of demographic dividend in 2047, whereas China had already achieved it in 2010. If long term fertility decline takes place in India even after population replacement level is reached, India’s population will be stabilizing at 2060 at about 1.7 billion. Thus, India has to make the best of the demographic dividend and focus on its economic benefits.”

Prof Pradeep Chauhan, conference convener welcomed the guests and presented the background of the conference. On this occasion a brochure of the conference was released.
