PPWMS and IPCA has organized conference to discuss Extended

Patiala : Producer Responsibilities to manage plastic waste generated in the state of Punjab, Patiala, Punjab with the support of Punjab Pollution control board on 24 Feb 2023. During the conference Sh. Prabhakar Mishra, Chairman Punjab Plastic Waste Management Society, Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Chaiman Punjab Pollution Control Board), Ashish Jain Founder Indian Pollution Control Association, GS Majithia, Member Secretary, Punjab Pollution Control Board ( PPCB), Smt Jiwanjot Kaur Joint Commissioner MC Patiala, Disha Verma EPR Manager Hindustan Unilever and many dignities were present.

 

Sh Mishra said that PPWMS is a unique EPR model of the country and it was privileged to execute EPR for plastic waste management as the brand owner consortium and under the guidance of PPCB. He urged the industries of Punjab to become member of PPWMS so that more plastic waste would be collected and recycled.

 

Prof. Pal, Chairman, PPCB had talked about individual responsibilities to conserve environment and segregate waste at source. He said that PPCB will work as the facilitator for the implementation of EPR of Plastic waste and will organize more awareness program.

 

IPCA, which is implementing EPR action plan for plastic waste on behalf of PPWMS has presented journey of plastic waste collection and its recycling and demonstrated plastic recycled products in the conference. Mr Ashish Jain, Director, ipca said if citizen start segregation of waste at source and do not litter waste in open, it would be easy to collect and recycle waste.

 

IPCA has also implemented many IEC activities like organizing Awareness programmes for housing groups/ residents, waste collection drives at strategic locations, training programmes for rag pickers etc. in Amritsar, Mohali, Rupnagar, Patiala, Bhatinda etc.
