The process of filing nominations for Punjab Assembly Elections 2022 is going to start from January 25. All arrangements in this regard have been completed in the Barnala district. This information was given by Kumar Saurabh Raj, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Barnala today. He said that as per the new schedule issued by the Election Commission, the notification would be issued on January 25, 2022, and the last date for filing nominations would be February 1, 2022, while scrutiny of nominations would be done on February 2, 2022.
He said that the date for withdrawal of nomination has been fixed as February 4, 2022. Elections in Punjab are scheduled for February 20, 2022, while counting of votes will take place on March 10, 2022. Nomination papers for assembly constituency Barnala in the office of Sub Divisional Magistrate-cum-Returning Officer Barnala in the courtroom, Nominations for constituency Bhadaud can be filed at the office of Returning Officer Bhadaur cum Sub Divisional Magistrate Tapa (Tehsil Complex Tapa) Court Room, Nomination for Mehal Kalan constituency can be filed in Room No. 13 Court Room of District Administrative Complex Barnala. The time for filing nominations will be from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The nomination letter is to be filled in Form 2B. Only two persons accompanying the candidate can approach the Returning Officer at the time of filing the nomination. In addition, only two vehicles can be parked outside the 100- meter radius. He said that January 26, 2022, is a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, due to which nomination papers would not be received on this day. January 30, 2022, is a holiday under the Sunday Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, due to which no nomination papers will be received on this day. Describing the Suwidha Portal as a very suitable platform for political parties/candidates for online nomination and approval etc., he said that candidates can facilitate the nomination process by creating their account by visiting https://suvidha.eci.gov.in/.
He said that apart from filling up the nomination papers online, this online portal would be very helpful in taking advance time for depositing the security deposit and appearing before the Returning Officer. Once the online nomination form has been filled, the candidate can take a print of it, attest it, and attach it with the required documents, then submit it in person to the Returning Officer. He said that apart from online, there is also an offline process of nomination but filling up online forms would greatly reduce the scope for errors. He appealed to all parties to co-operate in the entire election process.
