490 cases of liquor being smuggled from Punjab to Gujarat seized

Chandigarh,: Haryana Police has seized 490 cases of liquor being smuggled on forged defence canteen papers from a container truck in Mahendergarh district. The police have also arrested an accused in this connection.

 

While stating this here today, a spokesperson of Haryana Police said that the CIA team of Narnaul received a tip-off that in a container, liquor is being smuggled from Punjab to Gujarat. Based on the specific intelligence, the police team started checking by establishing blockade on 152D Highway. After some time, a container was seen coming from Dadri side which was signaled to stop. When the vehicle was searched, a huge quantity of different types of liquor packed in cardboard boxes was recovered. On counting, a total of 490 boxes of liquor were recovered.

 

During further investigation, the police found out that the accused had brought liquor in a container from Punjab and was taking it to Gujarat. Upon checking the documents, it was also revealed that the accused had prepared fake invoices of defense canteen items, whereas the container was filled with liquor boxes. Police have also recovered a fake number plate from the vehicle.

 

The apprehended accused driver has been identified as Salimkhan, a resident of district Palwal. The accused has been produced in the court and taken on police remand. Further probe is underway.

 

 Assistant food supply officer caught for taking bribe

 

Chandigarh, March 15- The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Haryana, which is continuously taking concrete action in corruption cases, has caught an Assistant Food Supply Officer (AFSO) of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department in Nuh district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000.

 

 While giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the Anti-Corruption Bureau said that the apprehended accused officer Chand Singh was demanding a bribe from the depot holder of Nagina in lieu of releasing the commission amount.

 

Mohammad Mustafa, who is a Depot Holder in Nagina in Nuh district, in his complaint given to ACB alleged that Chand Singh, Assistant Food Supply Officer of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, was demanding a bribe from the complainant in lieu of releasing his commission amount. The accused officer had already taken Rs 20,000 as bribe from the complainant.

 

Upon getting the complainant, the ACB constituted a special team that conducted a raid and nabbed the accused Assistant Food Supply Officer Chand Singh while accepting the bribe amount of Rs.10,000 from the complainant.

 

The Anti Corruption Bureau team has started further investigation by registering a case against the accused officer under Prevention of Corruption Act at ACB police station Gurugram.
