New Delhi: BJP leader RP Singh on Friday filed a police complaint against Malvinder Singh Mali, who quit as an advisor to Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu for his remarks on Kashmir, and sought registration of an FIR.
In his complaint, Singh alleged that “post related to Kashmir is a clear threat to the sovereignty of the Indian Republic with malafide intentions”.
He demanded that “an FIR under section 154 Cr. PC be registered against Mali for making such statements”.
The complaint was filed at Parliament street police station.
The nature of remarks from a person as an advisor to Siddhu is highly appalling and condemnable. It is necessary to take cognizance of such acts that aim to spread separatism and hatred in the country, Singh said in the complaint.
Taking to UNI, Singh said, 'The complaints should be have been filed by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh but after 14 days of his remarks today we have decided to do so.
“Because of pressure Congress today took his resignation,” he said.
He alleged that “his remarks are not less than treason and strict action must be taken against him”.
Malwinder Singh Mali on Friday “withdrew his consent to give advice” to Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu. This comes after controversy sparked on his remarks about Kashmir.
Mali sparked a massive row after he tweeted that Kashmir is a separate country. In a tweet, Mali wrote "Kashmir is separate country and India, Pakistan are illegal occupants. It belongs to the people of Kashmir".
