Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday mooted for the free telecast of Gurbani from the Golden Temple, Amritsar. The PPC chief said he was shocked over the commercialization of the sacred hymn. He appealed to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief to telecast Gurbani free of cost on organization’s own YouTube channel instead of its exclusive telecast by only one private TV channel.
It is sangat’s choice from where it wants to access the Gurbani, but it is the duty of the organization to make sure that all channels pick the telecast directly from SGPC’s official handle/channel, added the PPC president.
Following our great guru’s teachings and their message of ‘Sarbat the Bhala’ (Blessings for everyone/ Welfare of all), SGPC must revoke its decision to invite tenders for relaying of Gurbani, said Warring, adding that the organization must ensure that all practices to ‘legally sell’ Gurbani are discontinued.
Supporting his point, Warring said that Sikhs across the globe and all those who follow Sikhism must have free access to Gurbani. Its telecast must not add to someone’s ‘Personal Wealth’. Hence, it is the need of the hour to ensure that the dissemination of ‘Gurbani’ across the globe is done for free.
The PPC president also said that SGPC chief must refrain from supporting a family’s viewpoint and any such ‘exclusive’ rights given to a single channel belonging to the same family. He represents an organization that safeguards the rights of the panth, and he must stop blindly following the orders of the ‘Family’ that rules it!
