Nearly 1700 Kashmiri Pandits got govt jobs in J&K since abrogation of Art 370: MHA

Nearly 1,700 Kashmiri Pandits appointed in various government departments by Jammu and Kashmir administration since August 5, 2019, Minister of State for Home Nityaanand Rai said on Wednesday. In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, he said 44,684 Kashmiri Migrant families are registered with the Office of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Jammu for returning to the Kashmir valley, comprising of 1,54,712 individuals.

The Minister said in order to rehabilitate Kashmiri Migrant families, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed 1697 such persons since August 5, 2019 and selected additional 1140 persons in this regard. Article 370 and 35A were abrogated on August 5, 2019, and the state of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union Territories with Ladakh being carved out of it.
