Chandigarh: The Governor of Punjab and the Chancellor of Universities in the State, Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit has appointed Dr. Susheel Mittal as the Vice Chancellor of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
Dr. Susheel Mittal has been appointed for a period of three years, with effect from the date of his assumption of office.
Dr. Mittal did his Doctorate in Chemistry from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, India in 1986. He is a Chartered Chemist (CChem), Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) London (UK) and a Member of the Advisory Board/Editorial Board of many international and national journals of repute.
Presently, he is serving as Vice-Chancellor of SBS State University, Gurdaspur (since November 2021) while earlier, he served at Thapar Institute of Engg and Technology since 1989 and held positions like, Deputy Director, Dean (Research & Sponsored Projects), Head of School of Chemistry.
He has published more than 135 research papers in international and national refereed journals. He has supervised 25 Phd students, 10 ME/MTech (Env Engg) and 28 MSc (Chemistry) students. Dr. Mittal has completed 12 sponsored research projects and including from Royal Academy of Engg, UK.
