No chance of an alliance with Akali Dal ever: Punjab Congress chief

August 31, 2023 11:37 AM

Chandigarh:Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today slammed the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leadership for attempting to associate with the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) to maintain its existence in the state.

Castigating Akali Dal for betraying the farmers by supporting the three contentious farm laws and the dictatorial decision of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government that killed hundreds of farmers during year-long protest, Warring said that trusting Akali Dal could be more dangerous than trusting a venomous snake. He said that Akali leaders have always mislead the voters to fulfil their own malafide intentions.

Alleging the Akali Dal leadership of intentionally deceiving the farmers, Warring said that the leadership first supported the three ordinances promulgated by the Centre and to retain its cabinet ministry it even held press conferences to convince the farmers about its benefits. Ironically, the moment they realized that the protest is intensifying and the party is fast losing ground in Punjab, it immediately took a U-turn and portrayed themselves as the greatest guardians of the farming community. Though none of their tactics brought fruitful results, they lost the ministry as well as the trust. Now it’s a do and die situation for the Akali Dal and it is mere attempting to associate with I.N.D.I.A for its survival, said Warring.

Coming down heavily on the theatrics and tactics of the Akali Dal, Warring said, there can never be an Alliance with the Akali Dal, never ever! Those who can betray the annadata, in disguise of being their guardian, were even more dangerous to trust. They are one of those who bite the hands that feed, said Warring.

The Punjab Congress chief lashed out at the Akali Dal honchos for spreading false rumours to retain its lost political ground in Punjab. He added that the Akali leadership was merely misleading the voters by fanning the extinguished fire to form a false image to force its entry in the NDA alliance. Taking a jibe at the Badal duo, Warring said that they may later call the grapes sour, since the BJP state head had already ruled out any alliance with the Akali Dal, and with I.N.D.I.A there was certainly no chance to believe the imposters!
