September 01, 2021 11:46 AM

A memorandum was sent to the Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh by MLA Jagtar Singh Hissowal of Raikot constituency that the name of the international airport being constructed at Halwara in the constituency should be named after the freedom fighter, the youngest martyr of the state, Kartar Singh Sarabha. He also mentioned in the letter that the residents of the area also demanded that the said international airport be dedicated to Shaheed Sarabha. In a separate statement, MLA Hissowal said that a signature drive had been launched by various village organizations, youth and panchayats several months ago to name the international airport after Shaheed Sarabha. Martyr Kartar Singh Sarabha, who was martyred in his young age, may get more international recognition, but it will not hurt the feelings of the people of the area. Hissowal said that in honor of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, he would not hesitate to launch a vigorous mobilization campaign with the people of his constituency and fight for it if need be.
