Chandigarh, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed that by the end of the current financial year, a total of 500 Depots/Fairprice Shops in the State would be converted into 'Grahak Sewa Kendra’ in which the depots would be linked to the banking sector. Till now this scheme was started as a pilot project in two districts of the State i.e. Karnal and Sirsa.
Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, informed here today that as a pilot project in Haryana, FMCG products are made available at affordable rates through depots in five districts of the State in collaboration with 4 multinational companies. Under this scheme, multinational companies like Dabur India Limited, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Marico Limited, Coca-Cola Company, Alpro Consumer Products Private Limited were added with 63 shops in Karnal, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Yamunanagar, Panchkula districts so far. These shops have purchased inventory worth Rs. 7.04 lakh from the above companies and sold the products worth Rs. 2.29 lakh. Now this scheme will be started in all 22 Districts of the State.
Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed that under this scheme, the State Government had tied up with the State Bank of India to connect 7 depots with the banking project on a pilot basis in two districts of Karnal and Sirsa. The bank imparted training to these depot-holders in financial transactions. He said that in a period of 8 weeks, financial transactions of about Rs.24.40 lakhs have taken place during July, 2021 and about Rs. 34.50 lakhs in August through these depots.
It is to be known that about 8 weeks ago, the Haryana Government under the 'Atmanirbhar Haryana' campaign had launched a pilot scheme of selling the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) products through depot-holders at reasonable prices. It was also decided to avail certain services of SBI Bank through seven depot-holders for which they received commission.
Sh. Dushyant Chautala informed that the main objective of the State Government is to create an eco-system in the state, in which the poor people of the village are reached through ration depots or Fair Price Shops (FPS) certified by multinational FMCG companies, self-help groups and other manufacturing companies. Essential commodities have to be sold at reasonable rates. While this scheme of the Government will generate income and employment opportunities in the State and the markets in rural areas will also be strengthened with this initiative. He informed that now the State Government has decided to convert 500 depots/fairprice shops into 'Grahak Sewa Kendra’ by the end of the current financial year, all these depots will be linked to the banking sector
