The people of the state will definitely teach a lesson to those who insult public opinion: Chief Minister

SHIMLA: Addressing a massive public meeting at Shillai in district Sirmaur today Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that spontaneous redressal of public grievances was his priority and he does not believe in playing with the sentiments of the people for some political gains.

 

He said that the state government was working for the welfare of all sections of society facing challenges of sorts during the 15 months of its regime. "My politics revolve around my people and the chair of the Chief Minister is a means to fulfill their expectations," said Sh. Sukhu.

 

The state government is working day and night to curb and eradicate corruption. It was on these lines that the Himachal Pradesh Subordinate Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur, was disbanded for selling jobs. HPSSC can be termed as synonymous with corruption, and legal action was also taken against the corrupt officials involved in the heinous crime he said, adding that the present government is committed to provide employment to the youth as per merit ensuring transparency and providing them better self-employment opportunities for which the government launched Rs. 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Start-up Scheme, Rs 500 crore Him Ganga Yojna etc.

 

I am aware of the fact that during the monsoon fury, the people of the Sirmaur district also suffered massive loss. As many as 66 houses were completely destroyed and 718 houses were partially damaged in the district and by changing the norms in relief manual was increased manifold and despite limited resources, the government issued a special package of Rs 4500 crore for rehabilitation of the disaster-affected, said the Chief Minister. Our government distributed around Rs 20 crore as a relief amount for the rehabilitation of the people of Sirmaur affected by the worst natural calamity the state passed through.

 

He said that introducing English medium in government schools and opening of Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools will certainly prove a game changer for qualitative education. He said that the model health institutions being established in every assembly constituency will cater to the health needs of the people till the village level.

 

The Chief Minister also took a dig at the opposition and the rebel MLAs and said that they were trying to create chaos and warned them that the people would definitely teach a lesson to those who insult public opinion and try to create instability. He urged the people to show dust to such opportunists, who betray the public for money to make realize their selfish political motives. This is also an insult of public opinion, he stated. The opposition will never succeed in its efforts to destabilize the government having the backing of the people.

 

Earlier, Industries, Parliamentary Affairs and Labour and Employment Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed him about the various demands of the area. He thanked the Chief Minister for making important announcements for the area.

 

President Block Congress Committee Shillai Sita Ram Sharma also welcomed the Chief Minister. Pratap Singh Tomar from Hati Kalyan Manch Giripar Sirmaur also expressed his views.

 

Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar, MLA Ajay Solanki, former MLA Kirnesh Jung, President District Congress Committee Anand Parmar, Secretary State Congress Committee Avneet Lamba, President BCC Shillai Sita Ram Sharma, Congress leader Dayal Pyari, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and other dignitaries including Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta, Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena were also present on the occasion.
