Relief for AIDS patients as ART centre set to open in Barnala

The Government of India has given an approval for opening the 18th ART centre of Punjab at Civil Hospital, Barnala, to start treatment of AIDS patients. With the approval of the opening of the center, the AIDS patients of the area will now get relief from the botheration of going to the outlying cities for treatment.

Dr. Jasbir Singh Aulakh informed that the AIDS patients belonging to District Barnala used to go to Bathinda, Patiala and Ludhiana for treatment. But with ART Center soon to be opened at Civil Hospital, Barnala, they will be relieved from the harassment .

Civil Surgeon Dr. Aulakh said that two months ago at his invitation a special team from the state level (Punjab AIDS Control Society) comprising of Dr. Bobby Gulati, Additional Project Director, Vinay Mohan, Joint Director, and Natasha Sharma, Deputy Director, visited Civil Hospital Barnala to open ART Center. As a result, District Barnala today got approval to open 18th ART Center across Punjab.

Dr. Aulakh said that AIDS patients should be given a healthy treatment without any discrimination. The identity of an AIDS patient is kept completely confidential. Said that here ART. The opening of the center will significantly reduce the harassment of these patients and provide relief with greater treatment facilities.
