The Narcotics Branch of Delhi Police on Sunday arrested three drug traffickers, including a woman for allegedly being part of an interstate contraband supply chain.
The arrested have been identified as Mohd Alam (38), drug supplier, from Mandoli Jail in north-east Delhi and his ‘source’ Asha (45) and drug peddler Sunil (25), from Majnu Ka Tila in north Delhi. They were operating from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi and supplying heroin clandestinely into the national capital for the last several months, Chinmoy Biswal, DCP, Crime (Narcotics) said.
Narcotics Cell got information that one person, Alam, who is convicted in a murder case, was involved in supplying contraband heroin in Delhi and that would be supplying drugs to someone near Mandoli Jail. On August 25, a trap was laid and he was caught red-handed, where the drug supplier went with a consignment for delivering it to the customer. When the police frisked him they found 550 gram contraband in his possession.
While in jail, Alam met with two drug dealers who lured him to join the drug trafficking business to earn quick money. Once out of jail, he came in contact with a drug dealer whose mother, Asha, was selling smack at Majnu Ka Tila. Alam started procuring contraband from her and supplying them to his clientele .
