New Delhi, Sept 10 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with his entire cabinet will take part in an online celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi, which will be telecasted live from 7 pm on Friday, he said.
The CM appealed to people to join him and the ministers to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi as the celebrations are not allowed this time at public places.
"Since public celebration is banned in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have organised an online Ganesha puja today to mark the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. I appeal all of you to join us," he said.
Popular singer and music composer Shankar Mahadevan and vocalist Suresh Wadekar will lead the puja, the CM informed.
Kejriwal stressed upon involving children with the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi. He said that parents should tell about the glorious history of the festival.
"I want all of you to tell your children the glorious history of Ganesh Chaturthi. Since public celebrations were banned during the British era, Lokmanya Tilak started a movement with celebrating the festival publically which also became an instrumental part of our resistance," the CM said.
"We should inculcate the sentiment of the mixture of spirituality and patriotism among our children," he commented.
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at public places in the national capital have been barred by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The DDMA advised people to celebrate the festival at home.
Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated this month and considering the prevailing restrictions on gatherings and congregations and the present situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been decided that the celebrations of the festival may not be allowed in public places, the order stated.
