Today, problems related to climate change like unseasonal rains and drought are standing in front of human beings, to prevent which plantation is necessary. For planting saplings, the Forest Department had set a target of planting trees on 170 hectares of land in district Una, which has been completed by August 15. Emphasizing on rainwater harvesting, Kanwar said that under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, seven community water harvesting check dams are proposed in Una district. He said that a check dam has been constructed in Samoor to provide an irrigation facility by collecting rainwater, which would provide an irrigation facility to the farmers on 233 hectares of land. Apart from this, the dam being constructed at Chaplah at a cost of Rs 3 crore will have the capacity to store 10 crore liters of water, so that water will be transported to the farmers' fields in nearby villages.
