A big fair will be organized in Una in the month of November-December with the objective of providing a platform to sell finished products of women self-help groups in district Una. This was stated by the Chairman of the Sixth State Finance Commission, Satpal Singh Satti in a meeting with the women members of the Self Help Groups. Satti said that through this fair, women of self-help groups would get a proper platform to sell their goods. He said that the State Government is making continuous efforts to make women financially and socially empowered. Self-help groups are formed under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, so that they can become self-reliant. Efforts are made to strengthen these self-help groups financially through various activities, for which the government also provides financial assistance. He said that a total of 1857 SHGs are involved in various activities in district Una, including 336 in development block Bangana, 283 in Amb, 237 in Gagret, 684 in Haroli and 317 in Una. Recently the district administration has started an effort to sell the products of Self Help Groups under the brand name of Somabhadra.
