Efforts of the district administration to check begging in the city especially in front of the prominent temples and road crossings seemed to be nonviable but the presence of mind of responsible citizens worked to crack the begging racket in the city with the youth congress activists coming to the rescue of begging children.

They are also given thrashing on refusal to go begging by the drunkard man claiming to be his father by proxy.
