Punjab Industries Min terms oppn leaders statements regarding power shortage for industry as baseless

Terming the statements of opposition leaders regarding power shortage for the industry as ‘baseless’, Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Wednesday said that the state government has ensured a conducive environment for industry and there is no power crisis at all in the state.

 

The Minister said that the industrial policy of Punjab is the best in the country due to which the state has witnessed investment worth Rs 91000 crore in the last four years. He said that Punjab is a favourite destination for the industrialists and of the Rs 2,900 investment proposals, 51 per cent have already started their businesses, including 20 foreign firms.

 

Mr Arora said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the government has come up with the Right to Business Act and Single Window system to ensure solution of all issues under-one-roof which further provided ease of doing business and saved precious times of the industrialists.

 

He told that the state government is providing electricity to the industry at Rs 5 per unit along with 24-hours supply and has given the subsidy of Rs 3669 crore to the industry from 2018- 2021. He told that Punjab has adequate number of skilled workforce and industry cannot function without skilled workers.

 

Trashing the statement of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister regarding power shortage in Punjab a politically motivated, the Minister said that UP Chief Minister is always in hurry to give a statement without knowing proper facts. He said the earlier comments of the UP Chief Minister about the Malerkotla district, were also criticised.

 

He said that as the power-purchase agreements done by the previous SAD-BJP government, their real face has come to the fore. He said that such leaders who had taken anti-Punjab decisions have no right to make any statement regarding the power sector.
