New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) The Delhi government has disbursed an ex-gratia sum to the kin of 6,019 individuals who died due to COVID-19 while 6,995 applications have been approved for the relief, the Department of Revenue said on Monday.
"The list of 25,709 deceased persons shared by Health Department have been segregated district wise by the Revenue Department. Till date, around 9,643 applications have been received for grant of ex-gratia relief. Total 6,995 applications have been approved and out of which disbursal have been made in 6,019 cases," a statement shared by the department said.
The Delhi government is providing relief of Rs 50,000 to the families of COVID-19 deceased under Mukhyamantri Covid-19 Parivar Arthik Sahayata Yojna.
Delhi Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot convened a review meeting with Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates today to expedite the disbursal of ex-gratia under the scheme.
The minister has directed the revenue department to depute one dedicated officer at Delhi Government Call Center, officials said.
Till September 26, around 11,000 calls have been made to the affected families, they added.
Under the scheme which was started in June this year, the ex-gratia payment of Rs 50,000 for each death to the family of the deceased will be given to the kin of the person died due to Covid-19, after he/she applies for the same.
A monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 will also be given if the working member of a family died due to Covid-19, according to the scheme details shared by the department.
