Special Cell arrests two interstate robbers

New Delhi, Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Friday arrested two interstate robbers who were wanted in a broad daylight armed robbery case in Gujarat. A pistol, six live cartridges and Rs 3.90 lakh looted money were seized from them.

The accused have been identified as Detroja Jaideep Nanji Bhai (23) and Sandeep Rajput (30). Both are residents of Gujarat.

Duo told cops that on the basis of an information provided by Jaideep, both of them riding on a bike had intercepted a businessman going on his scooty in Morbi City.

They threw chilly powder in the victim's eyes and allegedly robbed him at gunpoint. Victim resisted following which a polythene bag having cash got torn and bundles of cash were scattered. Public gathered in support of the businessman and assaulted the attackers. The attackers collected part of the cash and fled on their bike, said Pramod Singh Kushwah, DCP, Special Cell.


On a tip-off from Gujarat police, both were tracked and arrested on Thursday night near ISBT, Kashmere Gate. During questioning, both told police that they had committed a sensational broad daylight robbery at gunpoint in Gujarat’s Morbi City on Tuesday, claimed police.

Both were caught when they were going to Haridwar to escape from police.
