Shimla: The players of the men's and women's team of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited, who won the All India Control Board Kabaddi Competition held recently at Shimla at the national level by Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited, met the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Sanjay Gupta today and handed over the trophies received by both these categories to him. Along with this, the volleyball team of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited, which won the first prize in the All India Control Board Volleyball Competition held from 17 to 22 April 2025 in Maharashtra, also met the Chairman.
The Chairman of Electricity Board, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, while congratulating the players of Board's Kabaddi and Volleyball teams along with their trainers, said that the main work of the Board is to provide 24 hours assured electricity to all the electricity consumers of the state and this work requires a lot of physical ability, therefore, the Electricity Board organizes sports competitions from time to time. He said that sports is a part of the functioning of the Electricity Board and winning it at the national level is a matter of pride not only for the State Electricity Board but also for the entire Himachal Pradesh.
Expressing happiness over the entry of women's team for the first time in the All India Electricity Control Board Kabaddi Competition and the victory of the women's team of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited in this competition, he said that women technical employees are being recruited in large numbers in the Electricity Board, as a result of which their role has increased in the Board's sports as well. He assured the players of organizing such high-level competitions in the future as well. On this occasion, the Board's Director Personnel, Shri Anurag Chander Sharma, personally felicitated all the winning players of the women's and men's teams. The Kabaddi coach Shri Om Prakash Jasta was also felicitated.
It is worth mentioning that from 27 to 29 April, 2025, the National All India Electricity Control Board organized a national level Kabaddi competition of All the power utilities at Bhattakufar in Shimla at National Level . In which 14 national level men's teams and 4 national level women's teams participated, in which Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited has secured first position in both women's and men's categories. Congratulating, Shri Anurag Chandra Sharma said that such competitions are necessary to keep the technical staff of the Board fit and healthy and by winning in this too, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited has shown its increasing efficiency.
On this occasion, Secretary General of Electricity Board Sports Organization Er. Rakesh Thakur, Press Secretary Anurag Parashar and other officials of Sports Organization were also present.
