Chandigarh: The specter of COVID has returned to Chandigarh, with the city recording its first coronavirus-related death this year. The incident occurred at the Sector 32 Civil Hospital, where a patient succumbed to the virus early this morning, sending a wave of concern through health authorities and local residents.
The deceased, a native of Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, had been working in Ludhiana.According to hospital sources, he was referred to the Chandigarh hospital a few days ago after his health deteriorated.
Upon testing COVID-positive, he was immediately placed in isolation, but despite efforts by medical staff, his condition worsened and he could not be saved.
Health officials have confirmed that COVID-19 cases are rising steadily in the city and have warned that the virus is once again becoming a serious health threat, particularly to those with pre-existing conditions or compromised immunity.
