July 02, 2025 05:27 PM

Ferozepur: In a continued crackdown against drug abuse under the state-wide "Youdh Nashian Virudh" campaign, special teams led by senior officers arrested five individuals in three separate cases under the NDPS Act, seizing a substantial quantity of narcotics and other items especially the ICE (crystal meth) drug – a very addictive illegal drug.

Bhupinder Singh, SSP briefing the media, said, the operations were carried out under the supervision of Naveen Kumar, SP (Headquarters), DSP (Detective), Mohit Dhawan, Incharge CIA Ferozepur, Barjinder Singh Sran SHO Makhu, and Jagdeep Singh, SHO Kulgarhi. The combined seizures included 1.774 kg heroin, 400 grams of ICE (crystal meth), a Swift car, a motorcycle, and five mobile phones.

The most notable recovery came in the second case, where 400 grams of ICE drug, a Swift car, and three mobile phones were seized from Bhuvnesh Singh (30) and Dhariaveer Singh (25) near the BDPO office on National Highway Makhu.

In the first case, a joint team nabbed Karan (alias Karan Pehalwan) and Gurjant Singh (24) from T-Point, Kutbe Wala–Dulchi Ke Road, and seized 1.552 kg heroin, a motorcycle, and two mobile phones. Karan is a repeat offender with four previous cases under the Arms Act involving recovery of pistols, charges of attempted murder, voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons, and resisting lawful arrest.

In the third case, 22 grams of heroin were recovered from Ranjit Singh (18) on Satiawala Link Road.

The involvement of young individuals, aged between 18 and 30, in all three cases highlights the growing concern of youth falling prey to drug trafficking and abuse in the region.

SSP said, the investigations are on-going and reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking from the region.
