Cooperation in various fields discussed in bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President of Ghana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Ghana's President John Mahama at Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday. During this, cooperation in various fields between the two countries was discussed. After Prime Minister Modi's delegation level meeting with Ghana's President Mahama at Jubilee House, various MoUs were exchanged between India and Ghana.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a visit to five countries - Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia from July 2 to July 9, 2025. In the first leg of his five-day visit, PM Modi reached Accra, the capital of Ghana on Wednesday. President John Mahama formally welcomed PM Modi upon his arrival at the airport.

"I am honoured by the special honour extended to me by President John Dramani Mahama in welcoming me at the airport. Our countries look forward to working together to strengthen our long-standing ties and explore new avenues for cooperation," PM Modi said in a post on his social media handle X.

Ghana is a valued partner in the Global South and has an important role in the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States. The Prime Minister's visit to Ghana is the first such visit in the last three decades. This historic visit will further strengthen the partnership between India and Ghana, and underline India's commitment to strengthen ties with Africa and Global South partners. Tomorrow, Thursday, Prime Minister Modi will address the Parliament of Ghana and also interact with the Indian community.

At the same time, in the second phase of his visit, PM Modi will make an official visit to Trinidad and Tobago from July 3 to 4. During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold talks with Trinidad and Tobago President Christine Carla Kangalu and Prime Minister Kamala Prasad-Bissessar. The Prime Minister is also expected to address a joint session of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago.
