Chandigarh: The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution opposing the Centre’s decision to deploy Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel for the security of Bhakhra and Nangal dams. The resolution saw participation from legislators across party lines, including members of both the ruling and opposition benches.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also took part in the discussion, underlining the importance of asserting the state’s right to manage its own infrastructure and security. The resolution stated that the Punjab Police is fully capable of securing the state’s dams and that the deployment of CISF amounts to unnecessary interference in state matters.
It further mentioned that if the Centre continues with the deployment, Punjab would not be in a position to bear any of the expenses related to CISF services.
