CM Chairs High-Level Meeting on Law and Order, reviews Statewide Crime Situation, issues Strict Directives

Chandigarh, July 11 – Demonstrating his unwavering commitment to public safety, Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini while chairing a high-level meeting on law and order late Thursday evening issued clear and strict directives to senior officers, emphasizing that the law and order situation must remain intact throughout the state and any disruptions should be dealt with swiftly and firmly. He stressed the need for each police station to consistently track crime patterns and respond swiftly to any rise in criminal incidents to maintain control. Accountability should be ensured not only at the district level but also at the police station level, said the Chief Minister.

 

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that negligence in crime control would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed officers to make maximum use of technology for real-time crime reporting and analysis, making the police system more efficient and responsive. He reiterated the government's commitment to curbing crimes and providing a secure environment to the public.

 

Strict Orders on Ransom Cases – Immediate and Harsh Action on Offenders

 

Taking serious note of ransom/extortion cases, the Chief Minister issued stringent directions, making it clear that such heinous crimes would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Immediate action must be taken to curb such cases, and the strictest punishment should be ensured for the culprits. He emphasized that the police administration must work with full alertness and readiness so that the common citizen feels secure and confident in the police’s role as a guardian of safety.

 

Strong Directives for the Safety of Women and Girl Students

 

Giving utmost priority to the safety of women and girl students, the Chief Minister ordered that police officers must conduct regular inspections of schools and colleges, especially girls’ institutions. He said officers should interact with students to make them aware and prevent any untoward incidents in time. He further directed that special patrolling be arranged during school and college dispersal hours to instill confidence among female students and their families.

 

During the meeting, officers apprised that the police have identified various hotspots and sensitive routes after interactions with working women and girl students. These areas are now under heightened vigilance with police presence and reinforced security arrangements.

 

The Chief Minister affirmed that the state government is committed to providing a safe environment for women and instructed the police to act diligently. He also directed that security measures be reviewed regularly and upgraded as needed so that women and girls do not face any fear or inconvenience.

 

Patrolling in Crowded Areas Must Be Tight and Proactive

 

Prioritizing public safety, the Chief Minister directed that effective patrolling must be ensured in markets and busy public areas, especially during peak hours. In addition, sensitive locations must be regularly assessed, and additional patrolling should be arranged as needed. Special patrolling by the Durga Shakti Force was also directed for women's safety.

 

Responsibility Must Be Fixed in Drug and Narcotics Cases

 

Addressing the issue of drug abuse and trafficking, the Chief Minister directed that strict measures be implemented to control both the supply and consumption of narcotics. He directed that specific police officers be made responsible for each district. He emphasized the government’s commitment to protect the youth from falling into the trap of addiction and called for a coordinated and robust campaign.

 

He said the state government is taking all necessary steps to achieve a ‘Drug-Free Haryana’ and that police should take strict action against drug peddlers. Drug-related cases at police stations should be regularly reviewed, and the prosecution process should be expedited to ensure swift punishment for offenders.

 

Strict Action Against Police Personnel Found Consuming Alcohol on Duty

 

To enhance the effectiveness and public-friendliness of the police system, the Chief Minister issued strong directions to improve the conduct and working style of police personnel. He directed all Superintendents of Police to clearly inform their field staff that any police personnel found consuming alcohol on duty or in uniform would face the strictest possible action. He asserted that the police exist to serve and protect the public, and indiscipline or irresponsible behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

 

Quick Response to Public Complaints, Ensure Justice to Complainants

 

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini directed that all complaints received from citizens in writing and registered on the Jan Samvad portal must be acted upon promptly by the concerned police officials. He said that addressing public grievances is a primary responsibility of the administration, and complainants must receive timely justice. He directed officers to prioritize every complaint and ensure regular updates on their resolution status are posted on the Jan Samvad portal.

 

Encourage Public Interaction, Take Swift Action in Extortion Cases

 

In the meeting, Chief Secretary, Sh. Anurag Rastogi directed the officers concerned to go among the public, listen to their grievances, and ensure their resolution on a priority basis. He said that when officers establish direct communication with the general public, the image of the administration and police will be strengthened, and public trust in the police will also increase.

 

Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. Rajesh Khullar, said that as per the directions of the Chief Minister, extortion cells should be set up in every district, and they should operate as special teams to thoroughly investigate cases of extortion. He directed the officers to take swift and effective action against the criminals involved in such cases so that they can be punished at the earliest and a strong message is sent to society.

 

Citizens coming to Register Complaints at Police Stations must be given a Receipt/copy of complaint Immediately

 

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Dr. Sumita Misra directed Superintendents of Police to further strengthen police patrolling and vigilance across all districts so that a sense of security is maintained among the general public. Additionally, she directed that citizens coming to police stations to register complaints must be immediately provided with a receipt/copy of their complaint, ensuring transparency and timely justice to the victims.

 

Furthermore, Superintendents of Police should regularly inspect police stations in their respective areas and establish direct communication with the public. This will not only ensure swift resolution of people’s issues but also further strengthen public trust in the police administration.

 

She directed that continuous monitoring should be done of identified crimes, especially those against women and cases registered under the NDPS Act. A time-bound and impartial investigation must be ensured so that offenders are punished promptly.

 

Director General of Police Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur, Advocate General, Haryana and other senior police officers remained present in the meeting.
