July 18, 2025 07:40 AM

SHIMLA:The Auto Operator Union, Macleodganj, Dharamshala  has urged the Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to consider their demand to allow plying of petrol autos in Macleodganj in Dharamshala instead of e-rickshaws.

A delegation of the Union also met the Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania who accompanied them to the Chief Minister on Wednesday evening and narrated their woes and strongly recommended solution to their only demand.

The Deputy Chief Whip apprised the Chief Minister that the plying of  e-rickshaws was made mandatory by the state government in Macleodganj and nearby areas. However, the e-rickshaws were unable to climb the steep slopes particularly that of Dharamkot, Naddi, Upper Bhagsu, Haini, Rakkad etc and stop's halfway thus causing inconvenience to the commuters and the auto drivers.

Kewal Singh Pathania requested the Chief Minister to approve the above request  and allow them to ply petrol autos as was being run earlier. He stated that the Chief Minister has directed the concerned departments to review the decision and take measures to give relief to the Auto drivers of the area.
