Kurukshetra: Institute of Integrated and Honors Studies, Kurukshetra University in collaboration with Women’s Studies Research Centre organized a seminar on Cyber Crimes and Cyber Hygiene on Thursday for the students. Dr. Amit from Department of Computer Science, BITS, Pilani was the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Anita Dua, Director, Women’s Studies Research Centre welcomed the guests and informed the students about the importance of awareness about Cyber Crime. Dr Amit, who is also Co-founder & CEO of Yashu Excellence Technologies Private Limited, today discussed in detail the ways to protect ourselves from further losses in case of cyber crime. How to persecute the culprits and strategies to prevent ourselves in the cyber world were shared. The psychology of victims, the mindset of the attackers and the lesser known facts about mobile were shared. In the hearty exchange of Ideas Dr Amit deliberated that the mobile which we are using is a broadcast medium and must be handled with proper care. The session had active participation from the audience where the role of cookies, false links shared through WhatsApp and viruses in our system were analysed and solutions were presented. Apart from emergency action kit and social media protection guide, the top participants were awarded various prizes in the session. In the end Dr. Ashwani Mittal from IIHS thanked the keynote speaker and the audience.
