"Under pressure from anti-national forces": Shivraj Singh Chouhan slams Rahul Gandhi over allegations against ECI

Bhopal : Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his allegations against the Election Commission, and alleged that he is under the pressure of "anti-national forces".

Sharing an X post, Chouhan said that the INDIA bloc is "defaming democracy" and tampering with Constitutional bodies. "Rahul Gandhi ji is under pressure from anti-national forces. He and the INDI alliance are defaming democracy, tearing it to shreds, and tampering with the dignity of constitutional institutions," the Union Minister wrote.

Recalling Rahul Gandhi's allegations in the past, Chouhan said that after EVMs, he has moved on to question the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, and accused him of wanting to spread anarchy.

He wrote, "Rahul Gandhi is repeatedly lying and wants to spread anarchy. He has defamed the Election Commission, the Supreme Court, and the CAG. He raised questions about the valour of the army, and when the army presented facts, he was silenced. He questioned EVMs without evidence, then abandoned EVMs after the Supreme Court's rebuke and has now moved on to SIR."
Further, the Union Minister questioned the Opposition's election victory in Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana and other states.

"I want to ask Rahul ji and the leaders of the INDI alliance: - Did Congress win in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh due to irregularities in the voter list? - Were governments formed in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Jharkhand due to mistakes by the Election Commission? - Did Rahul ji, Priyanka ji, and Akhilesh Yadav ji also win elections due to irregularities in the voter list?" the X post read.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan's remarks come amidst the INDIA bloc's protest march on Monday against the Election Commission over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar and allegations of "voter fraud" during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier today, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and other INDIA bloc MPs were detained by the Delhi police during the protest. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and TMC MP Sagarika Ghose were also among those detained by the police.

The detained MPs were corralled into a bus to be taken to the Parliament Street police station. Rahul Gandhi said that the Opposition's fight is not a political fight but a fight to save the constitution.

"The reality is that they cannot talk. The truth is in front of the country. This fight is not political. This fight is to save the Constitution. This fight is for One Man, One Vote. We want a clean, pure voters list," the Congress leader said.
