NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated actor Rajinikanth on completing 50 years in the film industry, describing his journey as “iconic” and his body of work as one that has left a deep impression across generations.
“Congratulations to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on completing 50 glorious years in the world of cinema. His journey has been iconic, with his diverse roles having left a lasting impact on the minds of people across generations. Wishing him continued success and good health in the times to come,” PM Modi said on X.

Rajinikanth, who made his debut in 1975 with ‘Apoorva Raagangal’, has since emerged as one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated figures, known for his distinct style, versatility, and mass appeal.
Often hailed as ‘Thalaivar’ by fans, he has worked in over 160 films across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and other languages. His career spans decades of box-office successes and critical acclaim, making him one of the most influential figures in Indian cinema.
