After J&K and Punjab, Haryana Government sends Rs 5 crore assistance to Himachal Pradesh

Chandigarh – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the state government had recently provided financial assistance of Rs 5 crore each to the flood-affected people of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. Continuing this spirit of cooperation, the Haryana Government has now contributed Rs 5 crore to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in view of the damage caused by heavy rains and floods in the state.

 

The Chief Minister was addressing the media persons after an informal meeting of the State Cabinet here today.

 

He informed that all Ministers, party MLAs, and supporting MLAs have been requested to donate one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund so that rescue and rehabilitation work can be accelerated and immediate relief can reach the affected families. Similarly, officers and employees of the Haryana Government have also been requested to contribute voluntarily.

 

The Chief Minister further said that cooperation has been sought from social organizations and industrial establishments to ensure timely assistance to those affected.

 

 

CM Relief Fund open to all

 

Responding to a question regarding any appeal to opposition to contribute, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Chief Minister Relief Fund is open for everyone and any individual may contribute as per their wish.

Responding to a question regarding the proposed visit of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi to Punjab tomorrow, Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that it is the duty of Haryana to fulfill its responsibility as a neighbor. He informed that today he met Punjab Chief Minister Sh. Bhagwant Mann, enquired about his health and well-being, and also took information about the situation arising out of the natural disaster in Punjab. He said that the Haryana Government and the party are continuously sending relief material and assistance to Punjab and have also assured every possible help required. Punjab is our brother, and the Haryana Government stands firmly with Punjab in this hour of crisis, he added.

Reacting to the opposition’s visits to flood-affected areas, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that it is good that opposition leaders are now reaching out to the people, otherwise earlier they limited their responsibilities to just tweeting. Taking a dig at the Congress, he said that whenever a calamity strikes the country, the Yuvraj of Congress goes abroad. In contrast, whenever a natural disaster occurs anywhere in the nation, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi cancels his programs and reaches directly among the people. Modi ji is the first Prime Minister who stands firmly with the citizens in times of crisis. Whatever he speaks from his mind and heart, he ensures its timely fulfillment, the Chief Minister added.

 

On a question regarding crop damage, the Chief Minister said that farmers are continuously registering their losses on the e-Kshatipurti Portal. He himself has visited the affected fields and assessed the crop damage. He informed that about a month ago, Rs 88.50 crore was released to farmers as compensation.

 

 

The Chief Minister further said that he is personally in constant touch with the people on the ground and is closely monitoring the situation. In this hour of crisis, the Haryana Government stands with its people and is committed to providing every possible assistance.

 

 

Director General of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, K. Makarand Pandurang and OSD to Chief Minister, Bharat Bhushan Bharti were also present on this occasion.
