BILASPUR; Birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was observed with reverence and enthusiasm at the Chief Minister’s Model Government Senior Secondary School, Bharari, where Urban and Rural Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani attended as the chief guest. The Minister paid floral tribute at the statue of Indira Gandhi and reflected on her towering personality, unmatched leadership, and historic contributions to India.
Addressing the gathering, Rajesh Dharmani said that remembering Indira Gandhi is not merely revisiting history—it is a reminder of how strong willpower, courage, and decisive leadership can transform a nation’s destiny. He urged families and society to collectively encourage and empower girls, emphasizing that women possess the capability to successfully fulfill any responsibility entrusted to them. He cited Indira Gandhi as the finest example of strength, determination, and leadership, who led India through some of its most challenging phases and helped establish its global stature.
Highlighting her visionary leadership, Dharmani recalled major reforms introduced by Indira Gandhi. These included the nationalization of banks in 1969, which empowered the poor and strengthened economic equality; the Green Revolution, which made India self-reliant in food production; and the historic 1971 victory, leading to the creation of Bangladesh, showcasing India’s diplomatic and military strength.
He also spoke about her bold decision to conduct the Pokhran nuclear tests in 1974, placing India among the world’s significant nuclear nations. He emphasized that her initiatives like Garibi Hatao, the White Revolution, and the 20-Point Program brought major social and economic reforms in family planning, environmental protection, rural development, and poverty alleviation.
Dharmani urged students to draw inspiration from Indira Gandhi’s life, stating that her ideals continue to guide India’s progress and serve as motivation for the younger generation to contribute to nation-building.
Earlier, Principal Jai Chand Heer welcomed the Minister, and students presented speeches and essays highlighting Indira Gandhi’s life and achievements. Teachers, parents, students, and local dignitaries attended the event.
