Chandigarh: Under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has been promoting “Energy Conservation” across the country through its National Awareness Campaign. This campaign has inspired a new wave of enthusiasm and motivation among students through painting competitions organized at various levels.
Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has been successfully organizing this state-level painting competition for school children of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh since 2005. The 2025 edition of the competition was also conducted with great enthusiasm and zeal on 20 November at the Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector-5, Panchkula.
This year, more than 2.5 million students from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh showcased their artistic flair and passion by creating paintings on the theme of energy conservation. From this large participation, a total of 300 students from the three states/UTs—Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh—were selected and invited for today’s state-level competition. Out of these 300 students, 18 children have further been selected for the national level, who will participate in the National Painting Competition scheduled for 12 December 2025.
On this occasion, Shri Manoj Tripathi, Chairman, BBMB, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the remarkable creative abilities of the young artists and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the children, their parents and teachers for their active participation in this important campaign. He encouraged children to stay away from harmful addictions, embrace art with passion and channel their energy in a positive direction. He also urged everyone present to conserve electricity and water so that future generations do not face any crisis related to energy or water scarcity. Shri Manoj Tripathi further appreciated the dedicated efforts of the BBMB HRD Team for successfully organizing this large-scale event.
The competition witnessed intense yet healthy participation. In Group A and Group B, the first prize of ₹50,000/- each was awarded to Japjot Kaur (Punjab – Group A), Tamanna (Punjab – Group B), Khushboo Yadav (Haryana – Group A), Veenu (Haryana – Group B), Himani (Chandigarh – Group A) and Srishti Nautiyal (Chandigarh – Group B). Similarly, second and third position holders were awarded ₹30,000/- and ₹20,000/- respectively. Additionally, 10 students from each state and group (total 60 students) received consolation prizes of ₹7,500/- each.
Adding a cultural flavor to the event, students of BBMB D.A.V. Public School, Nangal Township mesmerized the audience with their artistic performances. Senior officers of BBMB, representatives from state education departments and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
