Shimla; Himachal Pradesh Congress president Vinay Kumar said that over 2,500 party workers from the state will participate in the ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ Maharally to be held on 14 December at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. He discussed the preparations in detail during a meeting with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at Oak Over, where the two also reviewed arrangements for the Jan Sankalp Sammelan scheduled in Mandi on 11 December.
Kumar said he has urged senior party leaders, former MPs, MLAs, former legislators, heads of boards and corporations, former PCC office-bearers, district and block-level leaders, frontal organisations and departments, councillors of Congress-run municipal corporations, and party workers to participate in both events in large numbers. He also briefed the Chief Minister about the travel and logistical arrangements being made for workers attending the programmes.
Later, speaking informally with journalists at Rajiv Bhavan, Kumar said the Congress government had delivered strong performance in education, health, roads and public welfare despite the impact of recent natural disasters. He added that the Jan Sankalp Sammelan in Mandi will showcase the government’s achievements over three years and its vision ahead, with an expected gathering of 12,000 to 15,000 people.
Responding to a question, Kumar said district Congress presidents will be appointed by the central leadership, followed by block presidents. He added that the full PCC executive committee will be constituted within the next three months, combining senior leadership with youth representation.
