Centre strengthens Himachal’s road and bridge network, says MP Kangana Ranaut

Shimla; BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has lauded the central government for continuously advancing development projects in Himachal Pradesh, stating that the Centre has always prioritised strengthening the state’s infrastructure in view of its tough geographical conditions. She said the road network is the lifeline of Himachal and the Union government’s initiatives in road and bridge construction will form a strong foundation for the state’s future progress.

Ranaut expressed gratitude to the Centre and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for the virtual inauguration of four key Border Roads Organisation (BRO) projects constructed under Project Deepak on the Manali–Leh strategic route. She said these bridges will significantly ease and secure the movement of heavy military vehicles as well as tourists.

According to her, BRO has built these projects at a cost of around ₹18 crore, which include the 70-metre Shogtong Bridge, two multi-cell box bridges at Jingingbar and the 60-metre Yunam Bridge at Keeling Sarai. All bridges have been constructed using advanced technology to ensure uninterrupted heavy-vehicle movement throughout the year.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday dedicated 125 infrastructure projects to the nation from Leh. The new bridges will help resolve long-standing issues on the Manali–Leh highway, including avalanche-prone stretches, overflowing streams and rough pathways. Earlier, both army convoys and civilians had to navigate risky terrain, but the new structures will make travel safer and more reliable.

Ranaut said the projects will not only strengthen national security from a strategic standpoint but will also give a major boost to tourism. Travellers on the Manali–Leh highway will now enjoy a far safer and more convenient journey. She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for their continued support towards Himachal’s development, adding that the state is steadily advancing on the path of progress under the Centre’s strong leadership.
