Kaithal: Susham Kapoor, newly appointed President of the Punjabi Welfare Sabha, formally assumed office on Sunday. Atmosphere at Sabha's office throughout day was filled with enthusiasm, devotion and organizational energy. Oath-taking ceremony began with a Havan Yagna in morning, where all the members of Sabha offered prayers for the happiness, prosperity, unity and welfare of the community.
Following the Havan Yagna, a Kirtan (devotional singing) session was held. Bhajans and kirtans created a devotional atmosphere and members present experienced spiritual peace. Afterward, under chairmanship of Kailash Bhagat, Chairman of Punjabi organizations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popular program 'Mann Ki Baat' was listened to collectively. Prime Minister's thoughts on social issues, nation-building, service, and culture inspired members. In his address, Chairman Kailash Bhagat said that programs like 'Mann Ki Baat' connect every section of society. He said that Prime Minister repeatedly emphasizes social participation, volunteerism, and role of citizens in nation-building, which serves as a guiding principle for organizations.
He expressed hope that new executive committee would be inspired by Prime Minister's ideas and make service activities even more effective. Newly appointed President Susham Kapoor also announced the new executive committee of the Sabha. He said that the committee has been formed keeping in mind experience, dedication, and the spirit of social service. Kailash Bhagat has been appointed as patron and chairman of Sabha. Inderjit Sardana, Tulsi Das Sachdeva, Sudhir Mehta, Kamal Ahuja, Rajendra Khurana, Ram Kishan Digani, Narendra Nijhawan, Rajkumar Mukhija, and Satish Rajpal have been included as patrons.
Sanjay Setia has been appointed as General Secretary, Gyan Prakash Kumar as Treasurer, Surendra Katyal as Organizing Secretary, Rohit Sardana as Secretary, and Shyam Lal Khera as Joint Treasurer. After assuming the position of President, Susham Kapoor, in her address, stated that the Punjabi Welfare Society has long been actively involved in social service, assisting the needy, and promoting cultural activities. She clarified that all the social work being done by society would continue uninterrupted during her tenure, and efforts would be made to further strengthen these initiatives. She said that society would continue to work tirelessly to promote education, health, social support and mutual brotherhood. Special attention would also be given to connecting youth and women with the organization. Susham Kapoor also announced that first festival of new year 2026, Lohri, would be celebrated with great fanfare by the Punjabi Welfare Society.
Punjabi culture, traditions, and folk arts would be prominently showcased. She said that such cultural events strengthen unity and cultural identity in society. Senior members and office bearers present at program congratulated Susham Kapoor on assuming the presidency and wished her a bright future for society under her leadership. Everyone expressed confidence that with new executive committee, Punjabi Welfare Society would play an even more effective role in social and cultural spheres. Patron Inderjit Sardana expressed confidence that with cooperation of all members, the Punjabi Welfare Society would reach new heights in the fields of social service and culture.
