CHANDIGARH: Panic spread across the city on Wednesday after more than nine schools received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate evacuations and heightened security measures. The threatening messages, sent to the official email IDs of the schools, claimed that explosives had been planted on their premises.
Following the alerts, school authorities acted swiftly, prioritising student safety by evacuating campuses and, in several cases, declaring holidays. The Chandigarh Police were informed without delay and launched a coordinated response.
Teams from the Bomb Disposal Squad, Dog Squad, Quick Response Team (QRT), along with local police personnel, were deployed to the affected schools to conduct thorough searches. Security agencies are investigating the source of the emails, while police have urged parents and the public to remain calm as precautionary checks continue.
