Language, Legacy and Lifestyle: Dinanagar Event Honors Elders and Spreads Health Awareness

Dinanagar: Bal Mukund Sharma Emphasizes Promotion of Punjabi Mother Tongue and Health Awareness Grand Felicitation Ceremony Dedicated to Punjabi Mother Tongue and Seminar on “Health Through Food” Successfully organized. A grand felicitation ceremony dedicated to the Punjabi mother tongue and an awareness seminar on the topic “Health Through Food” were successfully organized at S.S.M. College, Dinanagar. The event was jointly organized by Jagat Punjabi Sabha Canada (Punjab Unit) and the Punjab State Food Commission. The programme witnessed the gracious presence of several distinguished personalities from the fields of society, education, administration, and health.

 


Chairman of the Punjab State Food Commission, Mr. Bal Mukund Sharma, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur, Mr. Aditya Uppal (IAS), presided over the समारोह. Special guests included Mr. Harpreet Singh, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Gurdaspur; Mr. Ajaib Singh Chattha, Chairman of Jagat Punjabi Sabha Canada; President Mr. Sardool Singh Thiyara; and Member of the Punjab State Food Commission, Mr. Vijay Dutt.

 

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The guests were warmly welcomed with bouquets by Mr. Mukesh Verma, President of the State Unit of Jagat Punjabi Sabha; Senior Vice President Mr. Parminder Singh Saini; Mr. Sarwan Singh Dhandal; College Principal Dr. R.K. Tuli; General Secretary Mr. Pawan Bhardwaj; Mr. Jasbir Singh Samra; and Dean Prof. Prabodh Grover.


In his welcome address, Mr. Mukesh Verma and Senior Vice President Parminder Singh Saini stated that the Punjabi mother tongue is the soul of our cultural identity, and preserving it is the responsibility of every Punjabi. They also elaborated on the initiatives undertaken by Jagat Punjabi Sabha for the promotion of the Punjabi language and social service.


Among the prominent dignitaries present were Mr. Harjinder Singh Kalsi (DPRO), the District Education Officer paramjit kaur, Kunwar Amritbir Singh (Push-Up Man of Punjab), Kunwar Ravinder Singh Vicky (General Secretary, Shaheed Sainik Parivar Suraksha Parishad Punjab), Dr. Kirtpreet Kaur (DSSO), Dr. G.S. Pannu (Assistant Commissioner, Food & Drugs), Mr. Sarabjit Singh Digra (President, Ministerial Union Punjab), social worker Mr. Sajjan Singh Dhandal, National Awardee Mr. Parmjeet Singh Kalsi, Prof. Prabodh Grover (Dean, Youth Welfare Department), Mrs. Ranjit Kaur Bhangwan, Ms. Tarunjot Kaur (Lecturer), State Awardee Mr. Surinder Mohan, and Ms. Kuldeep Kaur (Member, Jagat Punjabi Sabha), along with several other respected personalities.


During the seminar, Dr. G.S. Pannu delivered an informative lecture on “Health Through Food,” highlighting the importance of a balanced diet, hygienic food practices, essential nutrients, and prevention of food adulteration. He encouraged students and citizens to adopt a healthy lifestyle. An informative exhibition related to food safety and nutrition was also organized on the occasion.

 


In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Bal Mukund Sharma stated that the Punjabi mother tongue is an inseparable part of our identity, and every institution and individual must contribute to its preservation and promotion. He appreciated the efforts of the state unit of Jagat Punjabi Sabha. On this occasion, under the theme “Our Elders, Our Pride,” 50 senior citizens were specially honored. He remarked that elders are the treasure of our experience and cultural heritage, and respecting them is our collective responsibility.


In conclusion, the organizers expressed gratitude to all the guests and participants and reiterated their commitment to organizing such cultural, social, and health awareness programmes in the future. The event proved to be a commendable symbol of love for language, respect for elders, and promotion of health awareness.
