Chandigarh: – Haryana Cooperation, Jails, Elections, Heritage and Tourism Minister, Dr. Arvind Sharma, said that the nation is growing stronger because of the sacrifices of brave soldiers and the constant vigilance of our armed forces at the borders. He said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, is continuously working towards encouraging and enhancing respect for the soldiers.
Dr. Arvind Sharma was speaking today in the Gohana Assembly constituency while inaugurating the martyrs’ memorial and unveiling the life-size statue of Lance Naik Hawa Singh, martyr of the 1965 war. The Minister said that the country’s borders remain secure because of the courage and dedication of our soldiers. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, India has taken a pledge to become a developed nation by 2047.
He further said that since 2014, several important steps have been taken by the Central and State Governments to honour soldiers. The long-pending demand for 'One Rank One Pension' was fulfilled with strong determination. He said that Haryana is the land of bravehearts, every tenth soldier in the armed forces comes from the state. The ex-gratia amount given to the families of soldiers martyred in war, or IED blasts, has been increased from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs.1 crore. 418 jobs have been provided to dependent members of martyred families since 2014.
