Moga: Around 30 patients escaped from a government de-addiction centre in Punjab’s Moga after allegedly breaking the main gate lock following a violent altercation with staff members and security guards. According to officials, the dispute began after an argument broke out between patients undergoing treatment and the rehabilitation centre staff over an undisclosed issue. The situation quickly escalated, and some of the patients allegedly turned aggressive and started assaulting the staff.
The youths reportedly pushed aside security personnel before breaking the lock of the main gate and fleeing from the centre. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the facility. After receiving information about the incident, police from Kot Ise Khan Police along with senior officers reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Police have seized CCTV footage from the rehabilitation centre and nearby areas. Raids are being conducted at possible hideouts and surrounding locations to trace the escaped patients. Statements of the de-addiction centre employees have been recorded, and further legal action in the case is underway.
