Chandigarh: Following a high-level meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab unit in the national capital, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon and senior leader Manpreet Singh Badal announced that the party has decided to contest all 117 assembly seats in Punjab independently in the upcoming elections. The BJP's crucial announcement comes just hours after AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal predicted that the Punjab Assembly elections are likely to be held in November 2026 and declared Bhagwant Mann as the party's CM face for the upcoming polls.
The strategy meeting was convened by BJP leader Nitin Nabina and addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The top leadership held extensive discussions on the current state of affairs in Punjab and mapped out the roadmap for the state assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place six months from now.
Speaking to the media after the conclusion of the meeting, Manpreet Singh Badal expressed strong confidence in the party's prospects. "The BJP has firmly decided that we will enter the electoral battlefield alone on all 117 assembly seats. We are fully confident that the BJP will form the next government in Punjab," Badal said.
