Zirakpur: Punjab BJP President Keval Singh Dhillon has said that if the people of Punjab give the Bharatiya Janata Party a mandate in the 2027 Assembly elections, the state will witness governance based on the principles of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s rule. He stated that the BJP would work to free Punjab from the problems of drugs, gangsterism, corruption and lack of development while providing a strong and welfare-oriented administration.
Keval Singh Dhillon was addressing a felicitation ceremony organized in Zirakpur by BJP State Secretary and Derabassi constituency in-charge Sanjeev Khanna. He expressed concern over the current situation in Punjab, saying that the youth are increasingly falling prey to drug addiction and that gangsterism has emerged as a serious challenge for society. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government has failed to put the state on the path of development.
Dhillon said that Punjab is primarily an agrarian state, but many benefits being received by farmers and other sections of society are the result of policies implemented by the Central Government. He claimed that the state government has failed to fulfill several promises made to the people during its tenure, leading to widespread disappointment.
Referring to the financial assistance scheme announced for women, Dhillon said that the government is collecting forms for the proposed monthly assistance of ₹1,000 only in the final phase of its tenure, whereas several welfare schemes have already been implemented in neighboring states. He added that the people of Punjab now want results rather than promises.
On the occasion, BJP State Secretary and Derabassi constituency in-charge Sanjeev Khanna said that public support for the BJP is growing rapidly in the Derabassi constituency. He claimed that under the leadership of Keval Singh Dhillon, the party is emerging as a strong political alternative in Punjab and will be in a position to form the government after the next Assembly elections. He also expressed confidence that the BJP would win the Derabassi Assembly seat.
Punjab BJP in-charge Narendra Raina said that party workers have shown renewed enthusiasm since Keval Singh Dhillon assumed charge as the state president, and that this momentum would be reflected in the 2027 Assembly elections. Senior BJP leader S.M.S. Sandhu highlighted the issues of the Derabassi constituency and the party’s organizational preparedness, emphasizing the need for unity ahead of the elections.
Among those present at the event were District President Sanjeev Vashisht, Renu Khanna, Ranjit Singh Reddy, Sukhwinder Singh Goldy, Panchkula Mayor Shyam Lal Bansal, Chaudhary Om Prakash and Ranjit Singh Gill. Sudhir Kantiwal, Happy Kaushal, Mukesh Sharma Bhagsi, Harshvardhan Jain, Rajinder Kaushik, Sonu Jogi and Sukhdev Rana were also specially present on the occasion. Sanjeev Khanna also honored BJP councillors and candidates who had recently achieved success in the Municipal Council elections.
