July 20, 2021 04:04 PM

The proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned till 1500 hrs on Tuesday amid Opposition ruckus over alleged allegations of phone tapping, inflation and farmers' issue. As the House reassembled after the first adjournment, some Opposition parties, including the Congress, left their allocated seats and disrupted the proceedings.

Amid the uproar, presiding officer Kirit Premjibhai Solanki laid important papers related to various ministries and committees on the table. Meanwhile, the protesting Members left their seats and stood in front of him holding placards. 'This monsoon session is very important, please maintain peace in the House,' he said to pacify them.

Despite the appeal when the sloganeering continued, Mr Solanki adjourned the proceedings of the House till 1500 hrs. Earlier, when the House met at 1100 hrs, members of Congress and some other opposition parties stood on their seats and created a ruckus over the same issues. Urging them to maintain calm, Speaker Om Birla took up the Question Hour.

While Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Chaudhary was responding to a question related to modern agriculture amid the din, some protesting Members left their seats flashing placards. At this, Mr Birla once again urged them to resume their seats saying bringing placards in the House is against the rules. 'Please stop sloganeering and displaying placards.

Whatever issue you want to discuss, the government is ready for discussion," he said. As his continuous appeals fell on deaf ears, he adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.
