Chandigarh: The five-day ICT Skills Training Workshop for first year B.Ed. students, organised from October 5 to 9, 2026, at Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, concluded today with Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, as the Chief Guest. Ms. Priya Tandon, Representative of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini in Chandigarh and State Coordinator (Haryana), was also present and played an important role in supporting the coordination and successful conduct of the workshop. The workshop was organised in collaboration with Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini, Prasanthi Nilayam, Andhra Pradesh, to strengthen the digital competencies of prospective teachers and prepare them to effectively integrate technology into the teaching-learning process.
Welcoming the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal, Government College of Education, Chandigarh, acknowledged the presence and support of the dignitaries, resource persons and representatives associated with the workshop. She expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme. During the concluding session, Ms. Priya Tandon presented the course layout and outlined strategies for its effective administration at the college level. Her presentation provided clarity regarding the structure, implementation and coordination of the training programme.
Following the presentation, Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, addressed the participants. She highlighted the importance of digital skills and the responsible use of technology in education. She encouraged prospective teachers to adopt innovative and learner-centred approaches in the classroom and to use digital tools meaningfully to enhance teaching and learning.
The intensive hands-on training programme covered customisation of MS PowerPoint, interactive e-content creation using H5P, audio and video creation, YouTube hosting, web hosting and blogging, virtual conferencing, AI-powered teaching resources, and Responsible AI in Education.The programme was conducted under the guidance of Smt. Karuna Munshi, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini. The resource team included Keshaba Mishra, Radhika Balachandran, Nandini Nagesh and Mutya Valli Devi, along with volunteers Shalini Jatana, Ruchi Dheer and Gajendra Singh from Sri Sathya Sai Organisation, Chandigarh.
On the concluding day, students also shared their feedback on the workshop. They appreciated the practical nature of the training and stated that the sessions had enhanced their confidence in using digital tools, multimedia resources and Artificial Intelligence for teaching and learning. At the college level, the workshop was coordinated by Dr. Suman Khokar, ICT Department, Government College of Education, Chandigarh, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda, ensuring effective coordination and the smooth conduct of the five-day training programme.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A.K. Srivastava, Dean who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, the representatives and resource persons of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini, the college authorities, volunteers and all participants for their valuable contributions to the successful conduct of the workshop.
